If you are not born on The Dutch Antilles or lived on Aruba or The Dutch Antilles before 1986, you have to apply for a residence permit to legally stay in Curaçao. You have to hand over this document when you register at ‘Kranshi’. If you do not register or stay longer that the permitted period, you will be removed from the island for the period of 3 years.
To drive on the local roads you should have a Dutch license or change it for an Antillean license. To register or change your license you have to visit the driver’s license centre. If you have a Dutch license, it’s recommended to renew it before departure from The Netherlands. From Curaçao it is harder to make the arrangements and it will take more time to send all documents form The Netherlands to Curaçao

All companies on the island must be registered in the business register. This must be requested personally at the Department of Labor for Occupational Health Service (DAZ). Proof of registration becomes available one week after application and cost NAf. 50, -
