If you're not home during the day, it's especially important to open windows and doors the moment you get home to let fresh air in. Ventilating freshens the room and helps to remove moisture.
Ventilation
You should continuously ventilate your house by keeping transom windows and grates (no lower than 50 cm from the ceiling) open all day. Leaving them partly open is enough. Ventilation is very important for the removal of noxious fumes and the supply of fresh air. If you have a mechanical ventilation system, we recommend leaving it on.
During our everyday activities, we produce a lot of moisture. For example by taking showers, cooking, washing, doing the dishes, etc. This might not seem like a lot, but a 4 person household produces an average of 12 liters of water a day and even more during warm days.
Controlling moisture in your home
Use a cooker hood while cooking. If you do not have one, open a window while cooking.
Take extra care of proper ventilation during and after cooking, washing, doing the dishes and showering.
After taking a shower, dry the walls and the floor in the bathroom and make sure the moisture can get out.
Repair leaks and other shortcomings.
