School project Instituto Buena Bista (IBB)
The IBB offers an orientation course for young talents. IBB select through scouting and then guide and support towards a future in the creative field. To give a broad as possible view on the contemporary art field to our students, visitors and participants of our workshops (ArteSwa projects) within the community, we invite visual artists from all over the globe to Curaçao to give us new views – ‘buena bista’s’ - on the possibilities of art.
The ArteSwa projects made clear how many talents there were on Curaçao and how hard it was for them to find their way to a professional career in the arts or applied arts field.
IBB offers them a framework that makes this possible and since then we already accompanied two levies of young talents to art schools or applied art schools in the Netherlands and the Caribbean region.
The Instituto Buena Bista has 3 functions
- an international project platform
- an ‘artist in residence’
- an educational track
These 3 tracks are interconnected which enables students and artists to make this institution an energetic and interactive art center that radiates both locally and internationally and to expand that network.
Kooyman & IBB
Kooyman find it very important the youth learn how to develop there talent. Especially when it can help them get a good education and make it possible to do what they really like. Therefore Kooyman sponsored a project for schools. Together with IBB Kooyman developed a program for schools, with which IBB hoped to find new talent amongst the students of these schools.
The school received a package specially made for them, containing an instruction DVD and materials to work with. The children can choose different assignments, with which the can compete. The most talented student will win 1 year at IBB .The project started in August 2009 and will end January 2010. Saturday January 23rd the awards will take place.
