- Dark and warm colors make a room appear smaller. Light and cool colours make the space appear bigger.
- If there’s a lot of natural light in the room you can easily use brighter and darker colours.
- Match eye-catching colors with white, gray and brown hues. This creates serenity and balance and does the colors justice.
- Work from dark to light to set up the space in a balanced manner.
- Use a darker color on the floor, a lighter color for the walls and the lightest color for the ceiling.
- Consciously choose the type of paint. Matte paint and cement paint soften colors while high-gloss paints make more solid colors.
- If painting the skirting-boards remember the following: the floor appears bigger when the skirting-boards are painted in the same color as the floor and smaller when painted in the same color as the walls.
