Quality range hoods for better ventilation

Quality range hoods for better ventilation play a crucial role in any well-equipped kitchen. It helps removing cooking smoke, steam, odors, and airborne particles through it’s a ventilation system during, keeping the kitchen fresh and clean without disturbing your Small kitchen Aplliances

The ventilation can help cool a warm kitchen as it removes access heat but also prevent cabinet and wall damage that can come from grease build up from cooking smoke.

All great benefits aside, they also enhance the look and design of your kitchen, just like our available refrigerators and range of dishwashers

There are quite some models available, and we have summarized the main choices and what other features you should consider when buying a range hood!

The wall mounted hood.

Traditional wall mounted hoods are sometimes called wall-mounted chimneys as they resemble a chimney in its shape. Nowadays, there are more modern models and designs available that looks quite different than a chimney.

Looks aside, they are a great option for over the kitchen range or our cooktops to catch the cooking smoke. Most models are vented to the outside, releasing the smoke to the outside, but this also limits the placement of the hood. Not all properties or kitchens have the venting possibility and for that there are ductless models. These models use a carbon or charcoal filter that helps remove the odor and smoke particles from the air and then when clean, releases it back into the kitchen.

This filter then needs to be cleaned or changed based on usage, to be able to work efficiently.

The island hood.

The island hood is very similar in design compared to the wall-mounted hood but is designed for installations where there is no wall to mount it against. This type of hood is mostly used for when you have a cooktop on an island or similar layout. The hood and its piping are installed and suspended through the ceiling and vents out the smoke the same way. Since the lack of cabinets surrounding the hood, it needs to be wider than the cook surface to be able to funnel the fumes. As these hoods are usually stand-alone hoods in the middle of the kitchen, their design is usually very impressive and therefore the higher pricing.

The integrated hood.

The integrated hood or the under-cabinet hood is one of the most common models on the market. The hood is installed and integrated as a part of a cabinet, the vent is placed under the cabinet and above the stove for it to capture the cooking fumes.

It’s a very affordable choice, quite easy to install and doesn’t take up much space nor impacts the look of your kitchen.

Some models use ducts to transport the fumes and particles outside your home, and others are ductless which circulates the air back into the kitchen when cleaned. The models with ducts are generally more effective but more costly to install.

The right looks for your kitchen.

Some kitchens don’t require another statement piece but if you want to make the range hood one, you certainly can! Especially the wall-mounted hoods come in many elaborate designs and colors. The integrated hoods are more lowkey and can blend in your kitchen easier.

Keeping the noise down.

When having a range hood, be prepared that it will make some noise especially when you have it running on the highest setting. Reading customer reviews or visiting a showroom where you can get an impression of the sound level might be a good idea, as some models are more quiet than other.

If this is not a problem for you, great! Then base your decision on design and functionality.

The ventilation types.

As mentioned earlier, a range hood is either vented including ducts to the outside or ductless and recirculate the clean air back into the kitchen.

The ducted hoods are often more efficient, and at the same time, they will cost more upfront and be more complicated to install. But some buildings have restrictions and the only hood possible to install in the ductless model. When choosing a ductless bear in mind that you would need to replace the filter regularly and cleaning the hood more frequently.

The ducted range hoods use an aluminum filter to trap the grease, this you would also need to clean regularly. Most of these filters are dishwasher safe so it wouldn’t be a big hassle!
